* want a fun new way to celebrate “girls-night”.
* know someone who is having a birthday and/or bachelorette party.

What is a Portrait Party?

A For Women Only portrait party is an event hosted in your home or at a hotel where Morgan Day Photography  will take professional portraits for you and your friends in 20 minute mini-sessions.

How do they work?

Portrait Parties are hosted by one person who provides the location, coordinates the guest list, schedules the sessions in 20 minute intervals and collects the fees. Hostess get a free photo session and 8×10 Fine Art Print for hosting a Morgan Day Photography Portrait Party. In addition, you receive a $10 print credit for every person who commits (10 guests = $100!)

Each guest pays only $125 (full sessions run $500) and it includes the following (note: Hosts get all this free!):

• One 20 minute custom photo session
• 8-10 digitally enhanced photos to choose from
• One 8×10 Fine Art Print
• $100 print credit on a future photography session from Morgan Day Photography

*If you would like to add an additional person in a single 20 minute slot (i.e. siblings, parent, grandparent), please add $20 per person.

First, make out a potential guest list. We require at least 6 people to participate in the parties with a maximum of 15. Discuss dates with your guests to see which dates will work best for all of you. Think of the best location (Spring & Summer sunshine make parks and backyards work lovely). It’s All About the Fun of Being a Woman

Who doesn’t love to  play dress-up? Bring back the fun of being a girl- get all dolled up, know you are gorgeous, play the vixen, or the super-model… just be YOU, smile and be a star.   Encourage your girlfriends to treat themselves to feeling beautiful, sexy and confident. Get a make-over or do each other’s hair and make-up!  Go shopping! Pick out the perfect fashion or pin-up outfit together. Get ready for a fun party of self-esteem boosting photo shoots!

Do I have to get undressed?

No! For Women Only Portrait Parties are for you to dress up or down however you want. Think fashion shoot!  It’s about having fun and feeling great about how you look when you see yourself through the eyes of a professional photographer. Your 20 minute mini-session is all about you. We can do a boudoir, but you don’t have to! Wear whatever you feel best in!

Tips for a Successful Host

• Have snacks (it keeps the little ones busy who are waiting for their turn). You can provide snacks yourself or do it potluck style have have everyone bring a little something to share.
• Schedule your guests’ sessions 20 min apart. Schedule them consecutively so there aren’t any gaps (i.e. 10, 10:20, 10:40, etc). Let  your guests know they aren’t required to stay the whole time.
• Follow up with your guests with reminders

The only monies you are responsible for collecting is the initial fee ($125/guest).  Please let guests know they may pay in cash or check (note: checks MUST be made out to Morgan Siler). If guest want to order more prints, you can let them know they can order directly from me.  And remember: As a hostess, you receive one 20 minute session complimentary along with an 8×10 Fine Art Print. * are on a budget but still want professional photos taken of their baby bump and/or newborn.
* want a special way to bond in their New Mother’s playgroup.
* don’t want to forget their beautiful pregnancy glow or the first weeks of their newborn’s life

Morgan Day Photography will provide soft blanket back-drops for newborn portraits as well as sheer fabrics for maternity photos. Pregnant mother’s can choose whatever they would like to wear…they are welcomed to use the fabric provided for fine-art maternity photos, or they can go with a more natural, candid look and dress in their favorite maternity fashion.

I really want to let all of you who made time to come down to the event how much it means to me. Meeting you and your families, hanging out with you a little bit, seeing the little ones run around in their gleeful packs, and getting the honor of glimpsing at the love in each of your lives made my Valentine’s Day incredibly special. I have an idea and I need your feedback!

It’s fairly simple: I want to put on a citywide, free, photo-shoot capturing portraits of love in Lexington. We’ll call it the “Love in Lex” event. Couples newly in love and in love for decades, a child with their favorite grandparent, a single dad with his son, a yogi with his/her yoga mat, a dog groomer with her pups. You get the idea? There are hundreds of possible pairings, and I want to photograph them.

Two reasons why:

1). To celebrate love.

2). To connect with the city, give back and serve it.

Everyone who comes down and takes part in Love in Lex will get to download their photo for free from my flickr account and use it however they like-  get prints made to frame, post on Facebook, give to family as a gift. For the Lexingtonians, it’s an opportunity to get a professional portrait done  for free,  and take part in a city-wide celebration of love- love of all kinds.

Does this sound like fun? Do you think folks in our city would be interested in joining in?

If so,  I would love to work with a non-profit in town and do this as a Valentine’s Day fundraiser for them. (I’m happy to donate my time and resources and do the portrait photography for free for participants who make a small donation to the chosen cause). With this in mind I’d also like to get other businesses and volunteers involved to help make the “Love in Lex” event a success.
