These sessions give everyone a custom portrait experience with Morgan Day Photography without the larger investment of a full custom session.

Belly + Babies Portrait Parties are great for moms who:

* are on a budget but still want professional photos taken of their baby bump and/or newborn.
* want a special way to bond in their New Mother’s playgroup.
* don’t want to forget their beautiful pregnancy glow or the first weeks of their newborn’s life

What is a Portrait Party?

A portrait party is an event hosted in your home or a near by location (parks are great!) where Morgan Day Photography will take professional portraits for you and your friends in 20 minute mini-sessions.

How do they work?

Portrait Parties are hosted by one person who provides the location, coordinates the guest list, schedules the sessions in 20 minute intervals and collects the fees. Hostess get a free photo session and 8×10 Fine Art Print for hosting a Morgan Day Photography Portrait Party. In addition, you receive a $10 print credit for every person who commits (10 guests = $100!)

Each guest only pays $100 and it includes the following (note: Hosts get all this free!):

One 20 minute custom photo session

8-10 digitally enhanced photos to choose from

One 8×10 Fine Art Print

$100 print credit on a future photography session from Morgan Day Photography

*If you would like to add an additional person in a single 20 minute slot (i.e. siblings, parent, grandparent), please add $20 per person.

Sign me up!

First, make out a potential guest list. We require at least 6 people to participate in the parties with a maximum of 15. Discuss dates with your guests to see which dates will work best for all of you. Think of the best location (Spring & Summer sunshine make parks and backyards work lovely). Once your date is set you can put together an invitation how ever you would like- by postal, using evites or by creating an event on Facebook .

Pregnant mother’s can choose whatever they would like to wear…they are welcomed to use the fabric provided for fine-art maternity photos, or they can go with a more natural, candid look and dress in their favorite maternity fashion.

Tips for a Successful Host

Have snacks (it keeps the little ones busy who are waiting for their turn). You can provide snacks yourself or do it potluck style have have everyone bring a little something to share.

Schedule your guests’ sessions 20 min apart. Schedule them consecutively so there aren’t any gaps (i.e. 10, 10:20, 10:40, etc). Let your guests know they aren’t required to stay the whole time.

Follow up with your guests with reminders

The only monies you are responsible for collecting is the initial fee ($100/guest). Please let guests know they may pay in cash or check (note: checks MUST be made out to Morgan Siler). If guest want to order more prints, you can let them know they can order directly from me. And remember: As a hostess, you receive one 20 minute session complimentary along with an 8×10 Fine Art Print.
Maternity portraits are very special to me because I am both mother and photographer. It was the maternity self-portraits I did throughout my first pregnancy that set me on the path to becoming a professional photographer. I knew what having a beautiful photo of my big belly did for me (incredibly empowering) and so I started doing it for my friends and family who were pregnant as well. Seeing their eyes light up when they saw their photos (falling more in love with themselves and the babies to come) made me hooked–I loved making mommas-to-be feel beautiful and getting the opportunity to make that famous ‘pregnancy glow’ into an art form. Pregnant ladies have a power and a grace (and sex-appeal!) all their own. Don’t you think?

What is most exciting about working as a maternity portrait photographer in Lexington, KY is getting see families get created from the very beginning of the journey.

Being a maternity, baby and family portrait photographer for 4 years now I’ve gotten to be a part of first and second births. I’ve loved documenting milestones, like babtisms, birthdays and first steps, in a new families life. I’m always honored when a family chooses me to be their photographer. Moving to Lexington last year from Portland, OR, photography has been a special way for me to meet the many beautiful people of this community I now call home.

P.S. I started taking maternity portraits when I was pregnant with my own son. Photography was a way for me to celebrate this crazy thing that was happening to my body and also a way to preserve the memory of the baby-bump (which, turns out, my kiddo loves to see). Maternity portraits is one of those thing every mom really deserves to do- for herself and for her children. Check out some of the self portraits I did when Lucca was in my belly.
