A woman is sexy because she is confident. I fully believe this. So do the women at Avasiare, who hired me to shoot their new line of cosmetics and skin care products.

When thinking about how best I could capture their amazing products I kept returning to the vision of a woman who is getting herself ready. I wanted to capture the way a woman feels when she has the finest make-up and beauty products in her tool kit… The moments alone when she is preparing for the day or a special night out, and knows she is gorgeous, sexy and absolutely female. She is sexy because she is confident– inner strength and beautiful skin are hers, and so is the whole line of Avasiare beauty.

Here is how I described the vision for the shoot on the guest blog post I wrote for Avasiare:
The first moment a woman knows she is beautiful is not when her date or her husband tells her so. It is when she is alone at her dressing table, only half dressed, glowing with a fresh face and a personal magic. She sits with her inner beauty, in love with her make-up and being a girl.

What I love about commercial photography is being able to help the client and brand tell a story. It’s more than just what the product is or looks like in or out of its packaging, it’s how a product makes you feel. Photographs can do this, but only if you have a moving narrative to guide you. The vision comes first, then you start focusing your lens.

That’s why I like to think of myself as a story-teller– a story teller with a really nice camera.

Cool things about this company you may not know: The name ‘Avasiare‘ comes from the company’s love of life and their respect for the environment. They’ve chosen eco-friendly packaging, biodegradable boxes, and recycled/recyclable shipping materials. Also, they do this really cool recycling program for their customers where they give one free item for returning three used cosmetic packages for breakdown and recycling. A portion of all sales will also benefit the Nature Conservancy. Avasiare is all about healthy skin, healthy ingredients and a healthy planet, and that, to me, is the new glamour.
